چکیده
In the last 13 years several synthetic strategies were developed that provide access to [n]cycloparaphenylenes ([n]CPPs) and related conjugated nanohoops. A number of potential applications emerged, including optoelectronic devices, their use as templates for carbon nanomaterials in supramolecular chemistry. To tune structural or properties nanohoops beyond size-dependent effect known [n]CPPs, a variety aromatic rings other than benzene introduced. this Review, we an overview syntheses, properties, [n]CPPs with intrinsic donor/acceptor structure such contain acceptor, donor, heteroaromatic polycyclic units within hoop well nanobelts.

Synthesis, Properties, and Design Principles of Donor-Acceptor Nanohoops.
We have synthesized a series of aza[8]cycloparaphenylenes containing one, two, and three nitrogens to probe the impact of nitrogen doping on optoelectronic properties and solid state packing. Alkylation of these azananohoops afforded the first donor-acceptor nanohoops where the phenylene backbone acts as the donor and the pyridinium units act as the acceptor. The impact on the optoelectronic pr...

CONSPECTUS: This Account describes a body of research in the design, synthesis, and assembly of molecular materials made from strained polycyclic aromatic molecules. The strain in the molecular subunits severely distorts the aromatic molecules away from planarity. We coined the term "contorted aromatics" to describe this class of molecules. Using these molecules, we demonstrate that the curved ...
متن کاملA compactly fused pi-conjugated tetrathiafulvalene-perylenediimide donor-acceptor dyad.
The synthesis and structural characterization of a tetrathiafulvalene-fused perylenediimide molecular dyad is presented. Its largely extended pi-conjugation provides intense optical absorption bands over a wide spectral range. The planar functional molecule exhibits a short-lived nonluminescent excited state attributed to intramolecular charge separation.

“There’s plenty of room at the bottom.” These famous words from Richard Feynman are most commonly associated with the special properties of nanoscale objects, but they might as easily be applied to further taking apart these materials into their simplest units. For example, carbon nanotubes may be conceptually simplified to layers of interlocked conjugated rings. In practice, synthesizing these...

A fluorescence probe is a molecule that plays important role in sensing various biological [1-5] and chemical processes [610]. This includes cell imaging applications [1,2,5], studying the bio-molecular interaction (e.g. protein-lipid, protein-protein, small molecule-protein interaction) [6-10], characterization of microenvironment of organized assemblies [9,10], etc. The development of two pho...
